Hi there, my name is Stuart, I am the owner of Robert Rose Carpentry.
By far and away the question I’m asked the most (understandably!) is why have I named my company Robert Rose rather than Stuart Shaw! The name is rooted in honouring those who have shaped both mine and my wife’s (Liv’s) lives.
In this blog, I’d like to share the story behind our name and our values.
A Tribute to Robert and Rose.
Robert Rose Carpentry was named to honour two pivotal figures in our lives—my father, Robert, and my mother-in-law, Rose.
As well as being great, supportive parents, they also have great names!
The name not only holds personal significance but also offers a pleasant alliterative sound and evokes the beautiful image of a rose, symbolising elegance and growth, and a link back to the environment/nature. As our business is built using reclaimed timber, linking back to nature in this way makes for a great fit for our business and our vision.
Expanding Our Tribute: Allan and Kay
As we continue to grow, it’s important to us that every influential figure in our family’s story is honoured.
The support of Allan (my father-in-law) and Kay (my mother) and their contributions have been equally significant, and we hope to honour them so they feel the same appreciation and recognition.
All we need now is a new company, watch this space!
A Common Misconception
Understandably, when people talk to me they quite often think I am Robert. I used to correct them in the early days but now I just go with it!
One of the couriers I have been using for years still calls me Robert even today, I feel like it’s gone on so long I can’t change it now!

Liv, my wonderful wife, and Ted, our 9-month-old son, are integral parts of our journey too, so perhaps a 3rd company needs to be made too!
