Furniture Maintenance
Everyday maintenance of furniture
The guide below is for our standard wood used within our shop. For other materials please get in touch. With regard to maintenance, for day-to-day cleaning, we recommend wiping away any dust and spills, etc with a damp cloth (Or washing-up liquid in warm water)
What you'll need
• Damp, soft cloth
• Washing-up liquid in warm water
• DO NOT USE MULTI-SURFACE SPRAYS
Steps
#1: Mix a small amount of washing-up liquid into warm water with your cloth
#2: Wring out the cloth until just damp and wipe the table down, making sure not to leave behind any water puddles or droplets. Alternatively, spray a small amount of wood surface cleaner onto the cloth and wipe.
#3: Wipe again with a soft, dry cloth afterward if any water droplets remain.
Re-staining Or Re-waxing
Over several years, the finish may begin to fade depending on how much the item has been used, as well as other factors (sunlight, etc). You can easily re-stain using additional layers of the finish which we applied to your item.
In order to re-stain your furniture you will, therefore, first need to know what wax/oil or stain has been applied to your furniture. This should be made clear to you when making an order, otherwise please do get in touch, and we will point you in the right direction.
PLEASE NOTE OUTDOOR FURNITURE USES SPECIALIST FINISHES SO IT IS IMPORTANT TO MENTION THIS WHEN USING FOR OUTDOOR USE.
Once you know what finish you need to apply you can look around online for similar options, alternatively, you can purchase these through us.

How to Stain
To re-stain, please follow the steps below.
Items we recommend
Protective gloves (nitrile gloves).
Lint-free cloth.
Jacobean Dark Oak Danish oil.
Wire wool.
If you would like to order this from us, please click HERE.
Steps
#1: Please use a duster or dust cloth over the surface of the desk to leave the surface smooth and as dust-free as possible.
#2: Please wear gloves to protect the skin from the oils. Apply a generous amount of oil onto your wire wool. Massage the oil over the wood using circular motions and then finish by following the grain of the wood. Please note you can also use the cloth for this purpose, but the wire wool tends to work into the grain slightly better.
To finish, please ensure you remove any excess oil using the cloth provided. You want the desk to be as dry as possible once you have finished staining.
We advise leaving overnight to allow the oil to dry thoroughly.
Extra Care Tips for Pine Furniture Maintenance
Aside from conditioning and cleaning your pine furniture, other factors like where you place your furniture can affect the condition and upkeep of your favourite pieces.
Follow these additional tips to take extra care of your pine furniture:
Sunlight
Radiators & Vents
Avoid storing or placing your pine furniture too close to radiators, heaters, fireplaces, or vents, as rapidly-changing or intense temperatures could cause the wood to warp or split
Tips for preventing further damage on pine tables
Mop up any food or drink spills immediately with a damp, soft cloth
Place protective mats or trivets under hot or frozen dishes.
Use a padded or thick tablecloth during meal times to prevent scratches
