Wooden room divider with shelves
THE BENJAMIN combines a floor-to-ceiling wooden room partition with display shelves, helping define an open-plan living room or home office while keeping light and views through the space. Handmade from reclaimed scaffold boards in our UK workshop, the design can be sized to suit your opening.
Plan your layout
Choose the number of uprights, then contact us with your opening width, floor-to-ceiling height, preferred finish and shelf positions so we can confirm your design. Uprights have a 3.5cm by 6.5cm cross-section. The original example has 7cm gaps; spacing can be designed to suit your room.
Confirm the shelf arrangement with us before ordering if you need a particular layout. Shelves spanning two uprights need a supported design rather than uprights passing through the shelf opening.
Pressure-fit installation
As standard, each upright has a height-adjustable foot at the bottom. Tighten it with the supplied spanner to hold the upright between a suitable solid floor and ceiling. A protective cushion at the top helps protect the ceiling. This pressure-fit arrangement does not require drilling into suitable solid surfaces.
Contact us before purchasing if you have carpet, plasterboard, a suspended ceiling or any other surface whose suitability is uncertain. We can discuss alternative installation methods or a more permanent fixing arrangement.
You are responsible for safe installation. Check that all uprights remain securely tensioned, especially while the reclaimed timber acclimatises. Ask us to confirm suitable shelf loading for your agreed design before placing heavy items on it.
Example dimensions
The original photographed design measures 220cm high, 90cm at its widest point and 6.5cm deep, with an approximate weight of 15kg. These are example dimensions; confirm your own opening measurements and shelf layout with us.

Our workshop is based in Southampton, and collection from this location is free.
UK shipping prices are for mainland UK only and do not include the Scottish Highlands, remote islands or Northern Ireland. Please get in touch for an accurate cost in these areas.
We use a variety of larger parcel companies as well as trusted private couriers. They will contact you to confirm your availability before delivery.

Maintenance
With a little care, the furniture will last for many years. The oils help protect the surface from stains and water residue, while each piece of reclaimed wood retains its own character.
When selecting boards from our stock, we choose those that we would be happy to have in our own homes.
The appeal of reclaimed wood is its natural feel and rustic character. Small marks—including company branding, abrasions, colour variation, cuts, notches and dents—may remain where they add to the furniture’s appearance.
Do not leave water standing for long periods. Use a clean, damp cloth to wipe up spills.
