How to Fit a Headboard

Transforming your bedroom into a cosy and stylish retreat starts with the perfect headboard.

At Robert Rose Carpentry, we offer a variety of headboards crafted from reclaimed wood, each bringing a unique charm to your space.

In this article, we’ll guide you through four ways to fit a headboard.

Don’t just have your pillow against the wall!

Option 1: Keep it simple: leaning against the wall

Do you prefer an uncomplicated approach to home decor? You’re in luck! Most headboards offer the convenience of simply being placed on the ground, leaning gently against the wall.

This refreshingly simple technique eliminates the need for complex installations or various tools.

It’s a straightforward, no-fuss solution that appeals to those who value ease and efficiency in their home setup.

To ensure this method doesn’t compromise the integrity of your living space, it’s wise to consider adding some unobtrusive padding. If you want us to provide this, please let us know in advance so we can help tailor this to your needs.

This can be placed both at the base of the headboard and along the rear that comes in contact with the wall.

Such padding serves a dual purpose: it safeguards your wall against scuffs and scratches and protects your flooring from potential damage or wear.

This small, thoughtful addition extends the lifespan of your headboard and maintains the pristine condition of your wall and floor.

In line with this approach of simplicity and practicality, the Southville Headboard stands as a prime example. It embodies the essence of effortless style combined with functional design.

Option 2: Hanging your headboard from the Wall

Opting for a more firmly anchored approach, you might consider hanging your headboard using a French cleat, a method renowned for its stability and strength.

This technique is slightly more involved but ensures a secure and reliable fit, ideal for those who seek a more permanent solution.

The process of installing a headboard with a French cleat is divided into two steps:

1. Drill the Wall: The first step involves securing the cleat to your wall. This requires drilling, and it’s crucial to choose screws that are compatible with your specific wall type, be it drywall, brick, or another material. Accuracy and the right tools ensure the cleat is firmly attached and level.

2. Hang the Headboard: The next step is straightforward once the cleat is in place. Align the headboard with the cleat and then hang it. This step ensures the headboard is secure and hangs evenly against the wall.

Option 3: For Divan/Zip and Link Beds

Our collection includes specially crafted headboards with grooves cut into their legs, specifically designed to accommodate divan, zip, and link beds.

These headboards are tailored to ensure a seamless and secure attachment, blending effortlessly with the bed’s design.

The process of attaching these headboards is straightforward and user-friendly, involving just a couple of steps:

1. Secure the Headboard in the Slots: The first step is to align the grooved legs of the headboard with the slots located at the back of the bed and slide them into place. This step is designed for ease, allowing for quick and hassle-free attachment without needing specialised tools.

2. Drill into Place for a Firm Hold: The next step involves drilling it for added stability and ensuring the headboard remains securely positioned. This reinforces the connection between the headboard and the bed, providing a firm and steady hold.

This option is great if you prefer extra security, especially in a household with active children or a commercial setting like a hotel.

It’s a perfect fit for those who value form and function in their bedroom furniture.

Option 4: Integrated within Bed Frame

This design approach creates an elegant, cohesive look, enhancing the overall aesthetic of your bedroom.

With the headboard being a part of the bed frame, there is no need for separate installation or adjustments.

Opting for a bed with an integrated headboard is an excellent choice for those who value a sophisticated and streamlined look in their bedroom. It provides a stylish, hassle-free solution that enhances the overall ambience of the space.
